Welcome to Davin's Story

This is the story of our little Davin. He was and is our firstborn little baby boy, and was and continues to be loved with all of our hearts. He is our little butterfly baby, who is living out his days in Jesus's arms.

1. The first 19 weeks

February 1st, 2017.

We were getting ready to go out to dinner for Justin’s birthday when I told him I had one last birthday present for him. I sat him down on the couch and handed him a small box, I was so nervous. At first when he opened it up he seemed slightly confused. He pulled out the little onesie made to look like a miniature skier’s GS suit, and then proceeded to pull out little crocheted, orange skier’s boots and asked if I had made them, and why. It was only a few seconds before he asked if I was pregnant, and I told him I was, I had only just found out about a half hour before I gave him his present, and I think I was still in shock. One of Justin’s passions in life is ski racing, and I knew that if we ever were blessed to become pregnant, that a ski racer’s outfit was how I wanted to tell him. I had made the outfit several months prior, and was so excited that I was able to give it to him, and couldn’t believe it was on his birthday! We were both so excited, and a little caught off guard that we were having a baby!

The next few months were a whirlwind, but at the same time seemed to crawl by as we told our families, started making plans for a nursery, created registries for our baby showers. We did all of the things you normally do in preparation for a baby, and stressed about all kinds of normal things. ‘What color crib? What theme nursery do we go with? What is the best baby bouncer to get, I don’t want our baby to be bored if I get the wrong baby bouncer.’ ‘What bottles are best, what high chair should I get?’ All of these questions were so exhausting and fun all at the same time. I wondered when I would start showing, when I would feel the first kicks, whether I would go early or late. All of our appointments were normal, I was normal, healthy and feeling great actually. We started thinking of names, looking at daycares, thinking about doing a gender reveal party. So many normal, fun, exciting firsts that we were able to be having with our little baby. We even got to go on our first family vacation, all the way to Ireland!

We were pretty much all organized and planned, and were just waiting for our 20 weeks appointment to find out whether we were having a little baby boy or girl for the final touches to our nursery planning and gift registries. So we were so excited for our appointment coming up in early May.
